Review # 41 Monster High Operetta Picture Day Doll

I really like the older Monster High dolls. They were fresh, different, interesting and very well thought-out. I think that the packaging in 2013 was great too (just look at Operetta’s box below!). Since Monster High was launched in 2010, the brand was constantly evolving, but so far the changes were rather minor. This year the entire Monster High franchise will be rebooted with new face molds and new movie animation, and regardless of whether it will be changed for better or worse, it will never be the same again.

Operetta is a phantom, specifically the daughter of the Phantom of the Opera, and a student at Monster High. She is a talented singer and she is also skilled with both the guitar and the organ. She is very independent and she only does what she wants. That’s why she has a reputation of a diva and a rebel, but to ghouls who truly know her, she is the most loyal friend.

I always wanted to have Operetta in my collection and to me Operetta from Picture Day doll line is just exceptional. I really like how sassy and cool she looks in her purple and red outfit. Her dress is very detailed and the corset is a separate piece. I love that she has a tattoo on her left arm and I think that it really suits her personality. She also has a music themed scar on her face which is covered by a black mask. This particular Operetta doll was released in two versions – one with the heart-shaped mask and the second one with the spider web mask. The latter one is considered to be the correct mask and that version of the doll is also more rare.

She is just gorgeous…one of my favorite Operettas! I loved your intro about the evolution of Monster High and I agree that it just won't feel the same anymore. I think the new faces are cute and will definitely appeal to children, but I probably won't be collecting any repeat characters with new faces. I will look for their clothes on Ebay if it's a very cute outfit.
In a way, it is a little bit of a relieve for me as now I can spend some time catching up on collecting older MH dolls that I don't have yet.
    Great review!
